Like all the Other Candy...
Have you ever had a large bowl of candy that sat for eight months, mostly untouched and uneaten? When you finally pull a piece from the bowl after all that time, the candy does not taste like itself. The peanut butter candy will have the taste of peppermint, chocolate, and more. See, the candy had been a part of the whole bowl for so long that it no longer tasted like itself. It's the same way with our Christian walk.
God wants us to be like a rare candy. Sometimes we get frustrated with Him because we feel like He keeps us separated from the world and never lets us have any "fun." Do you know why? Because He sees us like a rare piece of candy that He wants to savor and keep as special. When we begin to act like the world, see things from a worldly perspective, and desire the treasures of the world, we begin to act and taste like all the other candy. We no longer have that rare taste to anyone....whether it be our God or the people we want to reach for Him.
People need to see us as being different--tasting different--and being part of the whole bowl while maintaining our own rare flavor. It's part of "being in the world and not of it," "being salt", and "being light."
How do you taste today? Is God still savoring your rare flavor; are you begining to taste like all the other candy?
I don't know about you--but now I'm craving chocolate. Something unique, something diverse, something that has its own flavor.
I love you all! Let me hear from you!
In the service of the King,
God's Gal Sarah
