I was tagged to. I don't think I will tag five people but I might blog it. I loved this weekend. We must do it again sometime soon.
Sarah, here is what I found out about meme. (found it on Wikipedia)
A meme (pronounced /miːm/) consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods and terms such as race, culture, and ethnicity. Memes propagate themselves and can move through a "culture" in a manner similar to the behavior of a virus. As a unit of cultural evolution, a meme in some ways resembles a gene. Richard Dawkins, in his book, The Selfish Gene,[1] recounts how and why he coined the term meme to describe how one might extend Darwinian principles to explain the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. He gave as examples tunes, catch-phrases, beliefs, clothing-fashions, ways of making pots, and the technology of building arches.
Meme-theorists contend that memes evolve by natural selection (similarly to Darwinian biological evolution) through the processes of variation, mutation, competition, and inheritance influencing an individual entity's reproductive success. So with memes, some ideas will propagate less successfully and become extinct, while others will survive, spread, and, for better or for worse, mutate. "Memeticists argue that the memes most beneficial to their hosts will not necessarily survive; rather, those memes that replicate the most effectively spread best, which allows for the possibility that successful memes may prove detrimental to their hosts."[2
Now I'm not claiming to understand it, or buy it, but there ya go.
Now, what in the world am I supposed to do? Did you "tag" me or did you just threaten to? You see, I'm of the "older generation" and I don't catch on to these new fangled ideas too quickly. Do I put the same quote from the same book in my blog? (So it would work something like the game of gossip and who knows what the "meme" might say 200 blogs from now.) Or do I find a new book and new sentences and we wait to see if our sentences become cultural "catch phrases"?
I'm so confuse. ;/
Now that you've read the above comment, don't overlook the comment I posted to your previous post, the one you posted before this post. Ya know? And now I've posted my 123 meme but know no one to tag. Is it okay to tag strangers? hummm But see, to do that I have to comment on their blog because they will never read my blog.
This is more compicated than chase.
Okay sweet thang... You crack me up! Good thing this is not a "real" game and better yet that you are not playing with Papaw! You keep changing the rules!!!! :) (Read all your rules carefully and read the rules your friends tagged you with.)
I know, you are just trying to wind me up in the nut house! :)
Yes we are in Georgia (Northwest of Atlanta) and I don't know how long we will be here. At least til the end of March we are thinking, but we never know for sure.
