The Coming Victory
I was reading this morning from the book of Joshua. I was relieved to finally make it to the conquest of Jericho. The Israelites crossed the Jordan in chapter three...yet the conquest did not happen until chapter six. What happened in between? God had the people set up standing stones as a reminder of His blessing. Then God wanted the men circumcised again. All this had to be done before He let them take the city. It finally dawned on me: God wanted to cut away the bad before they could go as vessels for His name. *DING!*
He put His people right where He wanted them and then cut away the evil in their camp. He does the same with me. Before I can go for that victory, He wants to snip away the selfish and unrighteous parts that hold me back from complete victory for HIS name. So if you are following Him--but haven't seen a victory for a while, maybe He's cutting away the bad to make the victory even more sweet.
Something to think about from the book of victory!

What a great insight!
I think God is "refining" me right now, cutting away the bad and preparing me for His ultimate purpose and glory. At times this really is painful, but victory is near... and God's grace is enough (as your songs say, "Your grace is enough" - I love Chris Tomlin songs!)
Thank you for sharing!
amen. I have been thinking of the same thing, just not with that particular event. Thank you for sharing that. :) Blessings!
Wow, what an encouraging thought, Sarah! I think it's also significant that God had them set up standing stones as a reminder of His blessings....Sometimes I think that we're so focused on the future and the troubles that we think are ahead that we forget all the past victories and triumphs that He has brought us through.
Thanks so much for sharing! (And thanks for the comment on my blog!)
God bless!
